Precision Paving Transformation – Birkdale
Client: Birkdale Road, Birkenhead
Year: 2023
Challenges & Problem Solving
The project required careful management of inconsistent ground levels and drainage issues influenced by previous flood events in the wider area.
These challenges were addressed on site through adjusted base preparation and refined grading, ensuring proper water flow and a stable finished surface.
Despite these constraints, the installation was completed to a high standard without compromising quality or finish.
Green Gecko Gardens completed a complex paving transformation in Birkdale, converting a challenging section of land into a functional and visually refined outdoor space as part of a wider residential landscaping upgrade.
The project required careful planning, precise groundwork, and problem-solving on site due to uneven levels and drainage complications from previous flood-affected conditions.
Scope of Work

Project Overview
The site presented multiple challenges, including uneven ground levels and drainage impacts affecting surrounding properties.
We began by removing the existing concrete path and preparing the area for a full redesign. A washing line was relocated, and three new steps were constructed to improve access and elevation changes throughout the space.
Timber edging was installed to define the paved area and create a clean structural boundary.
Significant groundwork was required, including machinery excavation and removal of excess soil to achieve correct levels. A properly compacted base was then constructed to ensure long-term stability of the paving system.
Over 1,000 pavers were installed with precision, carefully laid to ensure alignment, consistency, and a high-quality finish across the entire surface.
The completed space is a clean, durable, and visually cohesive paved area that significantly improves both usability and street-level presentation.
The final result reflects strong attention to detail, precise workmanship, and the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes on technically demanding sites.
